Works For Me Wednesday

I love, love, LOVE cookbooks. I especially love the ones that are put together by organizations, usually for fundraisers, like the W@H cookbook, these often have tried and true recipes for regular people like me. I also subsribe to Taste of Home, not to mention numerous Pampered Chef cookbooks. However, I always have had the problem of storing them and finding the recipe that I wanted at any given time ~ Yes I really do use many of these cookbooks ~ well this Christmas I hit upon the perfect thing. The Campbell's Recipe Keeper. (I tried to find a pic online and couldn't) It has been the best thing. It is full sized (81/2 by 11 inches) three ring (1 inch) binder. It has pages on which to copy recipes. It also has dividers that have pockets in them for those recipes that you get out of newspapers, or recipe cards you are given. I am slowly transfering my classic recipes that I use often to this binder so that I can have them all in one place.

The next step is books for each of my children, yes the boys too. But that will come, that will come. I am even looking into scrapping those someday........

I have several of those type of cookbooks, and an amish country cookbook, and I agree, it is hard to remember which recipe came from which book.

I love those kinds of cookbooks, too! In fact, those are the kind I'm most likely to hang on to. I started using Mastercook Computer program to store my recipes. I kept failing on the follow through to maintain any of the paper systems I tried. Thanks for sharing!

What a GREAT and organized idea!

Oh, you're like me with cookbooks. I love those privately made ones, too! I also love finding cookbooks at garage sales. You get them for 50 cents or a dollar--when they cost $25 new. For 50 cents, even if I only find a few recipes I like, I'm ahead of the game.

I'm a first time visitor here. I also love cookbooks and use a combination of systems to find what I want. Wish I could remember all my recipes in my head, but that's not going to happen!
My tip is up :-)

Lover of cooksbooks as well. I do kind-of the same thing, but I made the binder myself. Your's sounds much prettier! :)

That is a good idea. I put all of mine in a 3-ring binder inside plastic sheet protectors. I like this way of doing it too!

If you want to type up the recipes for your kids and keep them online, Recipe Circus is a great place to do it. You can even print out a printable version in the proper catergories.

Thanks for the tip!

My cookbooks are pretty much a jumble. Do you photocopy the pages onto special paper?

Great idea. Sounds like an improvement over the inexpensive binder I have from which the pages keep falling out!
