Works for Me Wednesday
The can goods on my pantry shelves are in rainbow order, from left to right. Sounds corny I know but when my 7 yr. old started putting up can goods as one of her chores, she started just stacking them anywhere. And naturally I couldn't find what I needed so we devised this system. Red things first (tomato sauce, paste, spaghetti and pizza sauce etc) Orange (canned carrots) Yellow (corn - both slushy and non slushy aka cream style and whole kernal) Green ( green beans, peas, limas etc. ) Blue ( I don't think there is anything there ) and Purple ( why purple hull peas of course!) At the end are the browns and blacks ( canned pintos, navy beans - that are really white, and our favorite baked beans as well as the cream soups we have)

We kind of do something similar, but grouped- like cream soups, tomato products (canned tomatos, diced tomatos, crushed tomatos, tomato soup, etc..) Then it is grouped by food- veggies then fruits. Great idea and helps to teach the kiddos about groupings too!! Thanks!
Very creative idea! I love that it is something the kids can do!
I like this idea a lot! I am short on shelf space and keep rearranging but can't find a good system. I think I might use this, and give dd7 a new chore!
I bet it looks really cool!
A rainbow pantry? That's so cute! I bet that it would really encourage my kids to help put groceries away, too!
I'd love to see a picture! What a clever idea.
How terribly clever was this idea!
I used to do my pantry this way too! I actually labeled the shelves "green food", "red food", "brown food", etc.
